BEN ALPER’S PROCESS REVEALED
This image is the result of moving a photograph on the surface of the flatbed scanner over a period of about two minutes. Each Background Noise piece would begin in this way. I would then select small fractions of these images and begin the compositing process – building the image additively from these scanner aberrations.
